what is it about mid-September that i love to
remember?
crisp air and warm sun caressing my skin
eyes closed and a breath–bathing in light.
the song of the leaves gently strummed by a mellow breeze
and the falling colors against the sky.
what of the glowing canopy during a settling sun
the softness of an afternoon and stillness in the wind
the feeling of fulfillment filling a million desires.
a moment among trees, a yearning to never retire
and what of the creatures that fly or crawl upon the ground
the raptors, swallows and blackbirds
beginning their southern flight
the fields of green that gradually fade
or the humus beneath where life is made
the sound of “hush” all around–
and what of the life within this moment, i finally found.
